Lodge Cast Iron is the oldest and longest-running cast iron manufacturer in the United States. Lodge has operated two foundries in South Pittsburg, TN, which has been their home since 1896. The foundry has gone through significant changes and improvements over the years, but the overall method of creating heirloom-quality cast iron cookware remains essentially the same.
Lodge commissioned Little Things Lab to oversee the process of creating a 1,800sq ft mural for their “From our Hands to Yours” theme based on Lodge’s long history of innovation, reinvention and perseverance, and their 125 years of experience and passion, all coming together the moment Lodge’s product enters someone’s home. They had a massive wall and a desire to set a high-quality artistic standard for the area, as the first large-scale mural in South Pittsburg.
Teal Thibaud created a process that included an RFP for regional artists with a local selection committee and managed the project from start to finish. Megan Lingerfelt was chosen as the artist and the mural is now the focal point upon entry into the Lodge campus, easily seen by passersby on a busy connecting street.
