The Love Parklet was a placemaking initiative that emerged from the Glass Street neighborhood planning process. Recognizing that true community transformation requires sustained effort and collaboration, this project was part of a broader strategy to revitalize the area through a series of incremental steps.

The participatory planning process brought together neighbors, designers, and artists to collectively address public space challenges in the Glass Street neighborhood. Through Planning-By-Doing Workshops, tangible plans were developed with a one-month, one-year, and three-year timeline, aiming to make the area cleaner, safer, and more inviting.

The Love Parklet was a short-term project located at the intersection of Glass and Dodson Streets, designed to celebrate a community anchor – the new Save A Lot grocery store. By creating seating areas and gathering places in front of the store, the Parklet fostered a sense of community and provided a welcoming space for residents to congregate and interact.

Artistic elements were integrated into the design, reflecting the neighborhood's creative spirit and enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the public space. The Love Parklet exemplified the power of collaboration, as stakeholders from diverse backgrounds worked together to transform an underutilized area into a vibrant community hub.

This project was a stepping stone towards long-term change, demonstrating the impact of tactical urbanism and community-driven efforts in shaping the future of the Glass Street neighborhood.
