The Chalk Alley Art Mural project is a public art collaboration initiated in 2023 by the NorthShore Merchants Collective and involved multiple property owners, the City of Chattanooga, and Little Things Lab.

The alley historically had been a place for temporary art, but after covid and less foot traffic in the area the alley became a space for permanent graffiti tags and disrepair. The collective sought to bring life back to the alley and put out an RFP for proposals. After careful consideration Little Things was selected to install a mural that invited chalk art, brightened up the space and included a chalk storage system.

The Chalk Alley Art Gallery Wall provides designated chalkboard painted areas for individuals to create art and express themselves with provided chalk. Across the sidewalk is a vibrant colorful mural, by local artist Alecia Buckles which captures the playful, fun, and eclectic spirit of Chattanooga’s NorthShore.
